Vigneron Aldo C. Quesada Lucero launched Vinas Del Tigre in 2006. Originally a farmer by trade, Aldo considers his principle task to care and nurture the soil, stating that it is the soil that takes care of the plant – as long as you care for the soil, the plant will be taken care of. For Aldo, there is no fine line between everyday living and the “spiritual” life and everything he does is life and winemaking is permeated with this intentionality. He believes this has an enormous effect on everything from the compost he makes on site to the way the fermentations progress in his wines. When you taste what he creates it’s hard not to admit they seem imbued with an energy unlike almost anything you’ve ever tasted before. Aldo farms his estate vineyard in the Valle del Tigre. This valley at 850 ft elevation is high in organic matter and just one ridge inland from the Pacific Ocean and the source for all of Aldo's red varietals. In 2019 he also began farming an abandoned vineyard of Colombard planted in the 1940s at the Magoni Ranch. Aldo is making some of the most thoughtful wines in Baja and highlighting the terroir of these special sites.
