Julia Alvarez-Perez and Alex Alvarez are a wife and Husband team who cut their teeth in the natural wine world while working as sommeliers at some of the most illustrious fine dining restaurants in the Bay Area. A love of Riesling and desire for a more pastoral life-style guided them to harvests in Burgenland and Adelaide Hills before settling in the Finger Lakes of New York to start Usonia. Usonia is a term coined by architect Frank Lloyd Right to reference the unrestrained potential of the American landscape; free from old world conventions. Clearly this resonated with Julia and Alex as they strive to make vibrant, honest wines reflective of the Finger Lakes and free from outside influence. We could not be more thrilled to partner with Julia and Alex to share these amazing wines that we believe showcase the potential of modern winemaking in New York State.
